December 15, 2024 Bulletin Announcement

Announcements

Edge Youth:   We have our Christmas Party December 18th! Bring a wrapped gift of $5-10 for gift exchange!  Small Group leaders are invited to attend!  We will meet in the fellowship hall starting 7:00 p.m.!

Clarification:   EDGE YOUTH- after Christmas break, the schedule will remain the same - we will be meeting every week, and there will be a meal provided. The new midweek change will not affect the Edge Youth.

Elders and Deacons:  The new selected Elders are Mike Jouwstra, Bill Post, and Justin Ranek.  The new selected Deacons are Alex Pronk and Jesse Bleyenburg. If there is any scriptural reason why these men should not be ordained and installed to their office, please see Jason Snyder or Pastor Mark.

Peter Fish Banks: We want to say THANK YOU to the kids who helped raise money for the Edgerton Food Shelf. Our donations totaled $645.32. Awesome job, kids!

Edgerton Food Shelf Angel Tree: We invite you to participate in our Third Annual Angel Tree/Gift Drive at First Reformed Church. The tree, located in the entryway, is decorated with ornaments, each representing a gift request or need. Simply take an ornament, purchase the item listed, and place the unwrapped gift in the tote beside the tree. We will be collecting items from Nov. 25 - Dec. 18. By doing so, you'll help us bring a little extra holiday cheer to local Food Shelf members in need. Let’s make this season brighter together!

Volunteer OpportunityWe are seeking a volunteer to lead a brief, 5-minute children's message during our service. It would be around 6 times a year. This is a wonderful opportunity to share your faith and inspire the youngest members of our congregation with a simple, heartfelt message. If you feel called to serve in this way, please reach out to Caitlin Arp.

Thank you to the Sunshine Circle ladies for the package of goodies you gave us for Christmas.  Everything is delicious and we appreciate if all very much.                          Art & Rose Bleyenburg

Thank you to the Sunshine Circle for the basket of goodies.

A Night of Christmas - We invite you to enjoy an evening of beautiful christmas music in a variety of musical acts. Enjoy both vocal numbers as well as instrumental pieces including flute, violin and piano. The program is on Thursday, December 19 at 7pm at First CRC of Edgerton.

Edgebrook Cookbook:  Some of our fondest memories are often made up of times spent in the kitchen or around the table with family.  This is why we are asking to collect some favorite recipes of past and present  residents to put together an Edgebrook Family cookbook. If the recipe is handwritten by the resident, or if you have a fond memory that goes with the recipe, we would like to incorporate those as well.  Putting this together is going to take some time, so we ask that you get the recipes to us by January 15, 2025.  Things to include in your submission: Recipe name, resident name who the recipe is in honor of, and a memory of baking with them if you have one.  You can drop off your recipe in the business office or by mailing to:

Midweek: Beginning in January, we’ll be introducing some changes to our Midweek schedule. After careful discussion and consideration by the Education Committee and Board of Elders, K- 8th grade will now meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month (and the 5th Wednesday, if applicable). This change addresses challenges such as managing the large number of children, low volunteers, and improving retention by addressing behavioral concerns. We believe this revised schedule is the best approach at this time. The EDGE Youth will continue to meet every Wednesday as usual. Please note that this is a trial period, and we deeply appreciate your understanding and support as we adjust to these changes.

The new dates are:
January 15
January 29
February 5
February 19
March 5
March 19
April 2
April 16 – Jr High Taco Supper

In addition to the new changes with Midweek, we are thrilled to introduce Family Huddles—a brand-new family devotional designed to bring students and parents together for meaningful moments of faith and connection. On the on or off weeks of Midweek, families can enjoy weekly devotionals that are simple yet impactful. These sessions can be done as a family or individually, encouraging kids to explore their faith while creating special opportunities for spiritual growth at home. We are excited to see how these Family Huddles strengthen families and deepen their walk with God!
